Our service teams are called Lead Teams. Leadership in the Hillcrest College Ministry is not about titles or position—leading is serving. We are looking for people who are passionate about Jesus and ready to invest their lives in others.

If you are interested in being a part of a lead team prayerfully read through the expectations of leaders and the opportunities to serve on the next two pages. Then complete the form or grab a lead team card from the info table at church, fill it out, and turn it in.

Expectations

Expectations of lead team members

  • Commit to consistency in both your service and your participation in other college ministry events – this means you will attend most college ministry events
  • Notify your leader in advance if you will not be able to perform your responsibilities or participate in any expected event
  • Live in a way that is above reproach as determined primarily by the Bible and secondarily by the college leadership
  • Affirm the overall vision and strategy of the college ministry
  • Engage personally in spiritual disciplines that promote maturity in Christ (Bible study, prayer, fasting, evangelism, community, giving, etc.)

Lead Team Opportunities

Host Team

The host team is designed to make people feel welcome and comfortable, much like hosting people at your house. This team is responsible for helping both visitors and regulars feel welcome, comfortable, and connected on Sunday morning, and for following up with visitors as designated by the host team leader.

Freshman Ministry

This team’s purpose is to intentionally engage freshmen, helping them transition to college life and connect to the local church. A large part of this ministry will be relational.

tenthirty Setup & Design

Sunday mornings can’t happen effectively without people to do the behind-the-scenes stuff. This team is responsible for all the stage and room design, setup, preparation, and tear down that make Sunday mornings happen.

Audio/Visual Team

This team handles all of the sound, lighting, and video for worship. If you don’t know how, that’s ok. You just need to be willing to learn. We will teach you everything you need to know.

Home Group Leader

Home Groups are a vital part of the ministry as the small group connecting point for community and relationships. Home Group leaders are responsible for leading these groups weekly in Bible study, prayer, and deepening relationships.

Leadership Team

These people will meet regularly with the adult leadership to pray and help make decisions for the ministry in planning and overall strategy.

Plan Events

Help plan and carry out things like retreats, service days, concerts, parties, and other ministry events. This team will help with the overall planning of events and will also do many of the practical, logistical things to make them happen.

Campus Outreach

Be part of intentionally living and investing in the lives of students on campus. Campus outreach people will go to class and live life like everyone else, but will do these things with an intent to reach people on their campuses with the gospel and draw them into community through the church. There may also be special outreach events on campuses to participate in and help plan.

Prayer Team

Prayer is a vital part of the work of a church, and it undergirds all the visible work that is done. This team will pray regularly for the work of the ministry, the people whoa re part of it, and that God would do big things through it.

Complete the form or grab a lead team card from the info table at church, fill it out, and turn it in. The list of opportunities is a running list of places to serve, but there may not be openings in every position at the time of your application. Please rank your choices in case your preferred choice is not available.

If you are only interested in one position you may indicate that, but also realize that it could decrease your opportunity to serve if that position is not available. You may apply to serve on more than one team. If you would like to serve in more than one area, please let us know on your form or card.
