The basket we use to collect our ongoing college mission offering is affectionately known as “the mission bucket.” It’s always around, and it looks a little like a snake charmer basket.

We use the money collected in this basket to help out with various missional causes. It has been used to help scholarship students form the ministry on trips, to help out with financial needs of missionaries living on the field, to help out people in particular times of financial need, and other things.

The money is used at various times for various reasons and is a way for the ministry and individual members of it to give generously to support the cause of the gospel in ways directly related to the ministry. The mission bucket is not a replacement for giving to the overall church offering. It is a place to give generously above and beyond what you give to the church as a whole.
