This blog got off to a less than stellar start last week. In fact, if I picked a team to win, it was almost guaranteed to lose. This weeks picks, however, are money:

Indy over the Jets

Minn over NO

You heard it here first.

// Brennen Boy has a Bed

Bike

My brother Brennen left on his bicycle last September for the streets.  He prayed and fasted about this during the summer along with our family.  He has been in Houston since then.

He slept where he could:  bench, alley, park, under a bridge.  He got run off of some places by police, never actually finding a permanent spot for his body to rest.  He’s got some stories that he will have to share when he drops by again.

For a little while, Brennen has been staying with a Christian family who lives in Katy.  They minister to the homeless a few times each week and he is directly involved with that.  He is using this as a time for prayer and spiritual development as he prays for direction.

I just wanted to let people know this, I have been asked by a number of people at church what he is doing.  This is obviously very basic info since late Sept and I wanted to encourage y’all to check out his blog

http://theperplextive.blogspot.com/ for updates and the opportunity to post comments to buck him up.

I, along with the rest of the Cody family, got see him over the holidays. Pray for:

Brennen

  • discernment as he seeks direction
  • the ability to let the Spirit lead
  • to know the Word

// Music Talk

I like music and I know you do too! Here is a song that I just listened to, and I want to put up the lyrics to see what you all think. The name of the song is called “Unraveling Of A Tragedy” and is performed by A Rotterdam November.

“I’m looking at a mirror. Tears roll down my face.
Two dark eyes stare back at me, they tell the story of a past I can’t erase.
God I come before you. My life is shattered glass.
I wish I had more for you, but unfortunately, this is all I’ve got left.
I can’t let go, no I cannot forgive, I hate the man living inside of my skin.
In bloody fields and dirty hands, many more tragedies lie within.
I’d rather feel pain, just to feel again. It’s been so long,
I can’t remember how much my chains weigh.
I may be breathing but don’t for once think I’m alive.
I may have even dreamed once, but all trace of that is gone from in my eyes.
I can’t let go, no I cannot forgive, I hate the man living inside of my skin.
In bloody fields and dirty hands, many more tragedies lie within.
Do you think you could send the rain, to wash me clean, and turn the battlefields green again.
I can’t let go, no I cannot forgive, I hate the man living inside of my skin.
In bloody fields and dirty hands how many more miracles lie within.”

How much do we let our past dictate our future?  How can we accept Christ’s forgiveness and still struggle with forgiving ourselves?  What do you guys think? What else sticks out to you?
